Welcome to Year 5!
Please take a look at the slideshow to see all the brilliant learning that has taken place this year. We're enjoying learning all about crime and punishment through the ages this term and cannot wait to see how it has changed throughout history.
In English, we’ll focus on discussion texts, eventually building up to writing a discussion text based on whether or not historic punishments should return for modern-day crimes. We are reading Holes by Louis Sachar and thoroughly enjoying this so far. We'll be using the story as inspiration to write our own!
In Maths, we will continue to use our knowledge pf place value and how this relates to decimal numbers. We will then look at how decimals are equivalent to fractions, using place value grids, counters and part-whole models to support us where necessary.

Weekly Routines
Monday – Reading journals checked and homework in. Please note if your child needs a little extra support from us in school on the homework.
Thursday – Homework sent home, PE and forest schools.
Friday - informal spelling test will be administered weekly or biweekly, based on a rule the children have been learning in school
