Mars (Year 4)
Parent information for Y4 Sex and Relationship Lessons
Over the next two weeks, children in Mars Class will have several lessons about growing up and relationships. These lessons will be taught as a class by Mrs Dilleigh using a personalised version of the Twinkl scheme of learning. Further lessons in UKS2 will cover puberty in more detail and include specific changes for boys and girls as they grow older.
The lessons will cover the following concepts:
1) How our bodies change as we grow up, including:
- Body hair
- sweat/greasy hair (importance of hygiene, washing regularly and deodorant)
- spots
- keeping our private parts private using the NSPCC pantosaurus song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lL07JOGU5o
2) Emotional changes and mood swings, including:
- how to manage these emotions and where to seek advice and support
- getting a crush on someone
3) Different types of relationships, including:
- family, friends, relationships when older.
- diverse families (the different types of family)
4) Aspirations and things they are looking forward to as they grow up
