Year 4 Penguins

Parent information for Y4 Sex and Relationship Lessons

Over the next few weeks, children in Penguin Class will have several lessons about growing up and relationships. These lessons will be taught as a class by Mrs Gardiner. Further lessons in Year 5 will cover puberty in more detail and include specific changes for boys and girls as they grow older.

The lessons will cover the following concepts:

  • How our bodies change as we grow up:

Body parts

Body hair

Sweating more and greasy hair (importance of hygiene, washing regularly and deodorant)

Spots

Keeping our private parts private using the NSPCC pantosaurus song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lL07JOGU5o

  • Emotional changes and mood swings (including how to manage these emotions and where to seek advice and support)
  • Getting a crush on someone
  • Different types of relationships – family, friends, relationships when older.
  • Diverse families - The different types of family
  • Aspirations and things they are looking forward to as they grow up

If you have any questions or would like further information, please speak to Mrs Gardiner.

Year 4 French

The final two lessons have been busy building Eiffel Towers with paper straws! They all tried their very best and their towers were fantastique! It has been a pleasure teaching this class for two years and I would like to wish them all the very best for their future language learning journey.
