• Keeping children safe in education: Statutory guidance for schools and colleges. This is the updated statutory guidance and framework for safeguarding in schools/colleges.

• Keeping children safe in education for school and college staff (part 1) Information for Schools and colleges - It contains safeguarding information for staff and offers additional information on specific safeguarding issues (FGM, Exploitation, County lines). This is can be used as a useful training document and can support any training delivered out in the school/college and helps staff have a clearer understanding and in the context of a child focussed approach to their work.

• Regulated activity in relation to children: factual note by HM Government July 2018 - Useful supplementary document to explain regulated activity, supervised and unsupervised activity and by definition.

• Working Together to Safeguard Children: An Inter-Agency Guide for Practitioners  July 2018 – School leads/senior leaders, Governors read this revised guidance. A working tool to use in the school/college and be familiar with, provides the framework for keeping children safe (useful flowcharts).

• DfE Guidance, What to do if you’re worried a child is being abused March 2015 – Still a basic and useful document for all staff and for induction training particularly, non-teaching staff who have contact with children, of note is the useful resources page is now out of date.

• DfE Guidance, Information Sharing: Advice for Practitioners July 2018 - Whole document, all staff including governors have a working knowledge.

• Government Prevent Duty Guidance – Whole document for leads/senior leadership, updated April 2019.

• The Prevent Duty for Schools and Childcare Providers –Whole document, all staff must be familiar with.

• Sharing Nude/Semi Nude Images Schools and Colleges- Responding to Incidents and Safeguarding Young People,- A comprehensive guide to dealing with incidents in school.

• Searching, Screening and Confiscation Advice for Head teachers, schools and governors - DfE Updated January 2018.

• Controlling Access into Schools - November 2018. An excellent tool to use when considering restricting, control or barring individuals including parents off the school site.

• Elected Home Education  GOV.UK April 2019. Guidance to be made familiar with all senior leaders and staff who are involved in discussions with parents around EHE, includes a guidance for parents.   

• DfE Children Missing Education Statutory guidance for local authorities September 2016- Whole document, all leads/senior leads must be aware of.

• The Designated teacher for looked after and previously looked after children- statutory guidance on roles and responsibilities- February 2018 - whole document for the LAC/Virtual school lead in the school/college.

• Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment between children in schools/colleges May 2018 (to be updated in September 2021) - advice for all staff in schools/colleges- whole document for all staff to be familiar with.

• Criminal Exploitation of children and vulnerable adults: County Lines Updated Feb 2020 - Home office county lines guidance, whole document and useful for training purposes.

• Mental health and Behaviour in schools, DfE updated 2018. How schools can support pupils whose mental health problems manifest themselves in behaviour.

• When to call the Police- Guidance for Schools: NPCC Feb 2020. This advice aims to support schools and college to make defensible decisions when considering whether to involve the police.
